TOUR TO THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING IN NEW YORK |
The Empire State Building, a skyscraper fear that to this day invokes imagination and wonder, began as a contest between two industrial moguls who croved the status of constructing the tallest building in the world. The building was the center of a "race to the skies" competition between Walter Chrysler, of the Chrysler Corporation, and John Jakob Raskob, creator of General Motors, and coincided with the onset of one of the worst economic downturns in American history : the Great Depression.
Thirteen Months to go encompasses the optimism and potential of 1920s New York. It is a wonderful tribute to the perseverance of New Yorkers and on amazing story of fortitude and ambition.
It has been nicknamed " empty state building" for the difficulty to rent its offices after the depression of the 30s.
Until the inauguration of the Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building will be the tallest building in New York, measuring 1200 feet.
The building was immediately considered the Eight Wonder of the World: for the lobby's floor's north aisle, in 1963 artists decorated with panels the main entrance representing the eight wonders of the world.
